Our collaboration with patient organisations, NHS and Industries.

Patient organisations are groups that work to improve the quality of life for people with a particular disease or medical condition. They provide support services and information to patients, carers and their families and they put people in touch with other people facing similar experiences. Most people know someone who has turned to a patient organisation at some point in their life. Patient organisations may also campaign for better standards of care and access to treatments for the patient they represent. We think it is important to provide financial support to these organisations to help them provide these support services. We support the following patient organisations:

Patient organisations also want and need to know about new medicines that might benefit the patients they represent. If they ask us for this information we are happy to provide it within the regulatory constraints we face. From our perspective, working with patient organisations gives us a better understanding of patient needs and this can help us provide better patient information or disease management programmes. Healthcare professionals financial contributions.

We work closely with Healthcare Professionals to:

• Ensure they have up-to-date information about our medicines
• Ensure they understand what our medicines cost and the financial implications for their budgets
• Help them place our medicines appropriately in a course of treatment
• Understand their aims and constraints properly so we can offer services that better meet the health challenges they face
• Improve our understanding of the commissioning and provider functions within the NHS

Syner-Med makes payments to healthcare professionals (HCPs) in the following circumstances:

• Sponsorship - financial support may be provided to healthcare professionals to participate at scientific conferences. Support will be limited to the payment of registration fees, reasonable travel, meals and standards accommodation
• Speaker services - we pay an honorarium to HCPs to speak at meetings and conferences about therapy areas relevant to us Any payment made to the HCP must be reasonable and reflect the time they spend speaking on Syner-Med’s behalf
• Advisory panels - we convene advisory panels with HCPs to, for example, learn about unmet medical needs, improve science and develop new therapies
• Corporate NHS membership
• Industry membership
